Match Report
Orwell Park School Boys 2nd XI vs  Royal Hospital School
On: Wednesday, 22 May 2019
Venue: Away

This match was highly anticipated by the team and they stepped up and gave a good account of themselves.

Losing the toss we were asked to bowl first which has been successful for us so far, and again in this match with early wickets in the second and fourth overs to put pressure on the opposition.

The whole bowling attack did their jobs well, keeping tight lines and not allowing any easy scoring shots. This was well backed up by the field with some thoughtful field placements.

After 10 overs we had RHS 46/5 and started to turn the screw to eventually bowl them out for 78. This could have been lower as our extras conceded was 30.

In the chase we lost early wickets and found ourselves 14/3 after 5.1 overs and a true test of our batting capabilities. However Alec Gurdon (21 off 33 balls) and Ed Del Mar (18 off 19 balls) rescued the innings with a partnership of 35 to swing the game back in our favour. Both scampered singles well to tick the score board over and put pressure on the opposition, forcing them into errors.

Ralph Mann added 11 valuable runs off 24 balls to take us to the winning total.

A good all-round team effort on the day.
